Morning Prayer from "Prayer Warriors"

In the next few blogs, I thought I would share some explanations about the Morning prayer by Jo Getzinger, my prayer minister.  Some of you have asked questions about these prayers, so I will take it paragraph by paragraph.  Some of it might seem obvious, but I think this can be helpful for all of us.  If you’d like to see the full prayer you can go to www.Care1.org or purchase Prayer Warriors from Amazon. 

“Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Your Son Jesus, who was born in the flesh approximately 2000 years ago, led a sinless, holy life, suffered and died on the cross and rose again to life to conquer our sin and death.  It is to You and You alone that I pray.  When I use Your proper titles (Lord, God, Jesus, etc.), I am referring only to You as defined in this prayer.  I ask that You would protect against all imposters and purify all concepts and internal images of You in my system.  I give no permission to internal parts to call on anyone but You or to answer prayer as one who has taken on a role as an internal god, christ or holy spirit.  Please expose and remove from my parts all false internal identities of You in Your timing.  I ask You, Lord to take authority over all demonic and to bind, expose, and defeat their works.  Please stand between all parts.  Minister to those who need it and protect all parts and me from any retaliation from other parts or the enemy.”

This first paragraph is especially important and is found in both the morning and evening prayers.  Who exactly are we praying to?  For survivors who have been trained from childhood to pray to various deities by various names, this is important.  It defines who True Jesus is.  Since many survivors have been in program set-ups with a fake Jesus (someone dressed like Jesus and called Jesus) who may have raped them or didn’t help them when they cried out to Him, it is necessary to clarify that the True Jesus lived 2000 years ago.  This would exclude all the false Jesuses in the set-ups.  It also defines what True Jesus did and why. 

These prayers are not magic words but they help our parts to know how we are choosing to walk this out, specifying we are not praying to any other god or playing the part of a god.  This may be a new concept to some, but we often have parts who have taken on a false identity as “Jesus” or “God” and may answer us when we believe we are asking questions of the True God.  This can be confusing especially at first, so praying this prayer can help identify parts who are acting as God to us and helping them to return to their original purpose as a part of you. 

When parts begin healing, there can be retaliation from other parts who act as “punishers” and so asking the Lord to bind all demonic and to stand between all parts helps to protect our parts as they are healing and learning new ways of functioning.  We will explore the next paragraph in next week’s blog!  See you then!
