Morning Prayer 6

I will always be grateful to God for answering this prayer before I even prayed it with providing Jo as my prayer minister!  In addition, He answered this prayer with my husband, Ken, who is an incredible part of my healing journey.  I still struggle at times asking God why.  So many survivors struggle alone – why did He bless me in these ways and with such a beautiful community?  His answer is always that He is sovereign and knows our journeys.  For those who are isolated and alone, He has a plan for you too.  There are reasons in His sovereign care as He is teaching us.  For the things He has called me to, this was His gift.  For others, the challenges may be part of their journey which has restoration in a different way.  I know He gives us the strength whatever our path looks like!

In this series of blogs, I thought I would share some explanations about the Morning prayer by Jo Getzinger, my prayer minister.  Some of you have asked questions about these prayers, so I will take it paragraph by paragraph.  Some of it might seem obvious, but I think this can be helpful for all of us.  If you’d like to see the full prayer you can go to www.Care1.org or purchase Prayer Warriors from Amazon.

This is the next paragraph:

“I ask You to care for all of my needs and to bring resources for healing into my life.  Please build my joy strength and my capacity to rest.  Bring to me relationships which are loving and joy-giving.  Teach me how to quiet myself.  I repent of any ways in which I have assumed control and tried self-sufficiently to supply for my own needs.  Forgive me when I lean on my own understanding.”

Because our healing journey is accomplished best through relational connections, I know He is at work in all of us to bring us just what is needed for our pathway and mission.  Learning to quiet ourselves (in relational connection) is one of the biggest indicators of mental health.  We get to work on this together.

Self-protection and doing it on our own is probably one of the greatest stumbling blocks to healing.  True FAMILY do not force us and as long as we are doing thing in our own strength, They will let us.  But the invitation is to let go of control (so very scary!) and trust in Them.  They are quick to forgive and to supply what we need as we choose trust.  Today, again I commit to True FAMILY’s way.  I can’t do this on my own.  There is relief in that!  Join me in letting go!
