Together Becoming Who We Are

Almost 7 years ago, when I first had the vision for our Transformations course, I heard the words “Transformations: Becoming Who You Are”. Little did I know then the significance of this phrase. Transformations is not primarily about “fixing” someone, but about who God created them to be being revealed and restored. Trauma may have distorted. Wounds may have infected. Lack of nurture may have stunted. But we are believing in the restoration power of God to bring the real “you” into focus.
As we discovered more from Dr. Jim Wilder about community, brain science and relational skills, this expanded to doing this together. None of us can do this alone. I can’t fix me. God didn’t intend for us to be restored in isolation. He created us for community. Together we are becoming who we are – who God intended us to be. His amazing creation. His body. His hands and feet in this world.
Many inner healing and deliverance ministries are focused on healing and freedom which is great. What is often lacking is the long term relational connections many survivors need, the opportunity to develop relational skills, filling in maturity gaps and learning to go from survival coping techniques to how to thrive. This is what makes Transformations Community unique. I’m not interested in a quick fix, but in long term restoration of body, soul and spirit.
We are not doing this perfectly. We stumble, make messes, hopefully work towards repair. But that is part of the journey. Not everyone is able to continue, but hopefully seeds were planted that will bear fruit in God’s time. I know I can’t do this journey alone and I am so very grateful for those of you who are on this journey with me.
I believe God’s design for healing is in community. Yes, it is difficult. There are times I want to run. Sometimes it feels like it would be easier to just do this alone. But that violates the very way God created us to function. We are better together – together becoming who we are!
