Morning Prayer 7

In this series of blogs, I thought I would share some explanations about the Morning prayer by Jo Getzinger, my prayer minister. Some of you have asked questions about these prayers, so I will take it paragraph by paragraph. Some of it might seem obvious, but I think this can be helpful for all of us. If you’d like to see the full prayer you can go to www.Care1.org or purchase Prayer Warriors from Amazon.
This is the final paragraph:
“Lord, show me anything within my system in Your timing that stands in the way of Your perfect peace. I give You permission to show me today about any parts with false identities. Please reveal to me when there is internal conflict and direct me in discerning any sin patterns and any truths which would speak to the distress. I invite You to convict me whenever I act or think in contradiction to Your will. I thank You and I praise You for this day. May I glorify You in everything I do. Amen.”
Most survivors want the healing NOW! It is not easy to trust True FAMILY for Their timing and way, but I have found that Their way is best and that I can trust Them. They are the author and finisher of our faith and our journey.
Parts with false identities as not well understood by most survivors. The way a cult maintains control is to program parts of an individual to believe they are the handler or programmer and assign them the “job” of keeping the person in line with the cult’s purposes. They are often connected spiritually to the outside handler/programmer and may report and monitor the person for the cult. This maintains control without the person even being consciously aware of it. Working through parts with false identities, helping them to discover who they really are and give them new jobs with True FAMILY and then cutting ties with the outside handler or programmer can be very helpful in the healing journey.
Internal conflict is often programmed into survivors to keep them always off balance and wrestling between two extremes (I want to be loved/I can’t be loved; I must obey mom/I can’t obey mom; I want to heal/healing is bad, etc.). Working gently with parts with opposing beliefs or feelings is needed. Asking questions with curiosity and not condemnation will go a long way to resolve internal conflicts. True FAMILY can often be the mediator, if parts are willing.
I hope this series has been helpful for you! Muriel will be leading a group, for those in Transformations, using Jo’s second prayer book, Prayer Warriors 2. This will be on Tuesday nights at 6pm. If you are interested, feel free to email me at Adena@Transformations.Community.
